Sadly, Behind The Noise, the COSLA silver award winning & SQA accredited youth music and skills programme is unable to run in 2019/20.
Although the project continues to have strong support from the team at Renfrewshire Music Services things are somewhat different in Glasgow as they do not consider BTN to be a ‘music programme’. Despite our best efforts to keep things going we were refused funding from Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative and believe the weak reasons given for their refusal came down to a simple misunderstanding on the part of the funding assessor and a lack of desire to seek clarification on a single point. Unfortunately, this has left BTN unable to continue at this point in time.
As much as we’re all a bit gutted over here at BTN, we are incredibly proud of what has been achieved over the years with all of the fantastic young dudes we’ve had the pleasure of working with. We would also like to express our genuine thanks for all of the support BTN has received over the years…sponsors, partners, teachers, parents, friends and all participants, there are far too many to list but you know who you are.
