Pre-Production & Industry Panel Day 2017

This year’s BTN Pre-Production & Industry Panel Day will take place on Sat 4th March between 12.30pm and 3.30pm at The Classic Grand, 18 Jamaica St, Glasgow.

NOTE – All students taking part in BTN are required to be at this event !

On the day you will receive your posters and ticket allocation for the upcoming Gig At The Grand shows. We will also be launching all of this year’s recordings live on Soundcloud and linking up all of your social media.

Last year the student recordings hit over 10,000 plays within the first 24 hours of their release so you have quite a challenge ahead!

Industry Panel

We’ve put together a great mix of folk who all work within the industry at various levels. There will be a 1 hour panel discussion about their various roles, how they got started and what advice they have for young people who are looking to enter the industry.

Each BTN group will need to prepare at least one question for any member of the panel so have a think about what’s important to you and what information could help you moving forward.

The panel includes:

Jim Gellatly – Presenter, Radio DJ and Music Journalist

For nearly 30 years Jim Gellatly has been championing new music on some of the country’s biggest stations including BBC Radio Scotland and Clyde 1. Along the way Jim was the first presenter in the world to feature now established acts like Biffy Clyro, Amy Macdonald and Twin Atlantic. In 2008 he was presented with the Radio Academy’s ‘John Peel Award for contribution to Music Radio’. Currently presenting a weekly showcase on Amazing Radio, Jim is also part of the team set to bring Rock Radio Glasgow to the airwaves in 2017. In addition to his radio work, Jim writes a weekly New Music column in The Scottish Sun, creates podcasts, and regularly DJs and hosts events throughout Scotland.

Yvonne Morrison – Ticketmaster Client Services Manager

After completing a post grad degree in Environmental Studies, Yvonne worked abroad for a few years before getting involved with ticketing for DF Concerts and King Tut’s. Now Client Services Manager at Ticketmaster, she manages a team handling accounts for many major promoters and venues across Scotland. She provides ticketing services for small shows right up to the largest of events at The Hydro, Summer Nights at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Summer Sessions at Bellahouston Park amongst others.

Jamie Gilmour – EMU Bands (Digital Music Distribution Service)

After gaining a BA(Hons) in Commercial Music from the University of West of Scotland Jamie went on to hold positions at BASCA and the Scottish Music Centre. He has extensive experience in artist and music project management.
Jamie currently works with Glasgow based EMU Bands, a digital distribution service which assists artists across the world to make their music available on all mainstream digital platforms, ensuring that their work is catalogued correctly in order to receive maximum royalties.

Sharon Stephen – Band Manager

Sharon has worked in a variety of music roles for the last 15 years. She has spent time on the road as both tour and production manager but has also worked as an A&R Scout looking for new & emerging bands and artists. Sharon is currently focused on Artist Management and her current roster includes The Van Ts, Model Aeroplanes, Helen Marnie and We Were Promised Jetpacks.

Chris Beltram – Regional Scout for Atlantic Records / Assistant Booker for DF Concerts

Chris has his ear very much to the ground when it comes to ‘under the radar’ acts in Scotland. He also has experience as an artist having played guitar for Scottish band Fatherson. He released their debut album independently and toured all over the UK and Mainland Europe.
Last year he was on the judging panel for the T-Break stage at T In The Park, helping to decide which 16 bands got to play that year. He also programmes King Tut’s prestigious Summer Nights and New Year’s Revolution festivals. These line ups are the cream of the crop when it comes to the country’s emerging music talent. For someone still starting out in the industry he has a lot of valuable experience already under his belt that he is looking forward to sharing at the BTN Pre-Production & Industry Panel Day.

Look forward to seeing you all on Sat 4th March between 12.30pm to 3.30pm at The Classic Grand, 18 Jamaica St.
Glasgow !
